I was so busy I missed the last set of ideas for my bathroom on Tuesday. With the slight exception of the bathroom makeover that's still on hold I finally see the end of the last weeks of renovation chaos. I don't have anything to paint at the moment! What do people do that don't have walls to paint? I have a new floor complete with trims and all. I still sleep on the floor but I bought the bed of my dreams, now I just need a mattress for it. Around the corner I see sofas and furniture.
I love the Marimekko soaps from this bright theme. Thank you so much for all the help! I hope this will be the bathroom month! Give me just two days that are concrete dust free.

I'm a bit tempted to put a before picture of my bathroom. I think I just might. For the moment it's full of toys being washed after the apartment concrete floor makeover. The carpenters that were supposed to be fixing the bathroom in February or so now seems to have a slight bad conscience for taking so long. I hope they can get away next month. We still havent't moved back into the apartment. I'm so looking forward to be able to stay at home and not in a suitcase. Hopefully we're back next weekend.

I felt I was out of ideas for our bathroom makeover so I asked Swedish blog favurite Benita at Chez Larsson inspired by the advise she has given to her readers lately. I was so happy to find out she is giving me ideas on my bathroom in three posts. Check it out here and stay tuned for the posts to follow. I'm so thrilled and grateful. Seems I'll now have problems choosing rather than a lack of ideas. I love purple and I love the towels from Himla. I actually had a blind from Swedish Himla in our living room. I can't say how relived I was it wasn't thrown out the other day. I brought it as hand luggage on the plane! The latest turn of events where we lost most of our furniture made the bathroom job overnight into an apartment makeover where we're changing the floors, painting the bedroom, office and living room, building new storage in the attic and hopefully making the old storage room into a sleeping nook for our son while we're moved out of our currently empty apartment. If we manage to pull through half of these project anytime soon I promise to show you the results on the blog. Pays off not no be overly optimistic about these things. Especially with the bathroom since we're still waiting for the guys that will do the job for us that are currently stuck with another project.

The bathroom turned out to be a real pain planing because of the five corners, sloping ceiling, big window, old door that opens into the room and the many angles. And there are so many choices to make. This is what it could look like if we change the layout of the room. We now have a bathtub only and the family that lived here before us (of supposedly all 1,5 year olds) placed it along the wall where the height of the room is 82cm!
The (lack of) colors and appliances are not exactly the ones we had in mind either. But the sketch has the right room layout. The window (on the last two pictures) is new. What I like about the sketch are the shower walls that folds in and the low cupboard below the window. You could put a flat cushion on it and use it as a bench. It would also be nice to have the washing machine in the apartment as opposed to two floors down in the basement.
Since there are so many talented blog people out there I figured someone might have ideas or hints before I screw up the actual bathroom.

I hope that 2010 will be the year - the end of my old bathroom. It's a disaster. The woman who lived here before us was obsessed with repainting. Our apartment doors, cabinets and windows have been pink, dark green, bright yellow, bright green. You name it. She repainted the bathroom between the times we looked at the apartment before we bought it. Every time it had a new color. Including the bathtub itself that was transformed from being dark blue to antique white, while the ceiling went from being dark blue to white with bright pink sponging. I might have been more forgiving if she would have been good at painting but the paint looks more like it has been splashed on the walls with big drops everywhere.
Do not repaint your bathtub whatever people might tell you about paint! Since a bathroom makeover is an expensive thing we've now had paint falling off the sides of the tub for many years. The bathroom also was organized poorly in the first place. It has a sloping ceiling since our house has a steep roof. Which would be very charming unless the bathtub had been placed where the ceiling is approximately the height of a two year old making it impossible to take a shower. We also have tiles missing in the floor, pipes and electricity that have been added afterwards across the walls and ceiling. The bathroom could be so nice. It's quiet big for being in a small apartment since a wall have been knocked down at some point. It has a high ceiling over 3 meters except where they put the tub. Do I need to say looking at inspiring bathrooms is something I love doing.
