Every day we wake up and read about some two hundred new earthquakes during the night that passed. The small earthquakes all occur under the Eyjafallajökull glacier which is where these pictures were taken a few years back. They might be signs of an volcanic eruption to come under the glacier. But they might also be signs of nothing. An eruption last occurred in the 1800:s. People are excited. The eruptions are usually very tourist friendly. No one gets hurt but a road or two might be swept away by the floods that follow when the ice melts. The eruptions provide great photo opportunities so when the news reaches you you drop everything and run to your car and drive as close as you can possibly get. Makes sense doesn't it. When I was a kid they told us at school to hide under our desks or in a concrete room if something bad happened like an atom bomb or a volcanic eruption. Usually it's the Hekla volcano that erupts that people go to see. It's just nearby on the South coast and erupts every few years.
